Getting Started
1. Find your first slime
Explore the habitats in the species gallery. Natural slimes spawn in darkness, in suitable biomes, and outside Peaceful difficulty. Moss, Water, Fungal, and Luminous are docile; other species may retaliate or defend their territory.
Check the diet before preparing an enclosure. Common accepts apples, wheat, and slimeballs; Moss accepts moss blocks and glow berries.
2. Feed and earn trust
Use a compatible food directly on a hungry slime. Its first manual feeding establishes its caretaker. Keep feeding it when hungry; rejected meals do not consume food.
Crouch and interact with an empty hand to inspect its needs. Low hunger and high energy, comfort, and trust support a healthy slime. See care and capture.
3. Build an enclosure
Choose suitable flooring and barriers that contain jumps. Avoid overcrowding and keep Fire away from water. A Feeder holds nine stacks and feeds nearby compatible slimes, but trust must be earned through manual feeding.
4. Capture and transport
Once trust is sufficient, use an empty capsule on a calm size-1 or size-2 slime with at least half health and 10 energy. Only its caretaker may capture and release it. Release it onto solid, dry ground with room for its full body.
5. Record discoveries
Use the Slimepedia on a nearby slime to record its species; use it in the air to open your journal. Feeding, analysis, births, and transformations unlock additional research independently.
In version 0.15.0, each player receives one Slimepedia on their first login to a world. Delivery does not repeat after death or reconnection. With a full inventory, the book drops at your feet. Existing worlds receive this delivery on the first login after updating, unless the player already carries a book. Craft a replacement with one book and one slimeball.
6. Develop your collection
Craft a Genetic Analyzer, research individuals, breed compatible adults, and discover metamorphoses. Train companions, set up jobs, and prepare for boss encounters.
Version 0.15.0 adds 16 Minecraft advancements. Open the Advancements screen with L by default and select Slime Evolution.
